"Karl-Heinz Lüders was probably Berlin's best know frame builder. He had his workshop located in former West-Berlin's district of Charlottenburg. It wasn't unusual to wait a year or more to get one of his builds. Sometimes he simply refuses a request when customers didn't accept his idea about frame geometrie. Even Merckx should have left the workshop with out one, just to come back a week later to accept Lüders' design. Among all sorts of local cyclists: professionals, semi-professionals or amateurs, his work was highly admired."
