That 2mm bead hook thickness and the 3mm depth essentially i want to generate a list of rim that conform and rims that don't. That should help people when buying tubeless tyres. I get a lot of email regarding problems but it always seems to be with some rims and not others.
The lastest is an SES 3.4 rim. I wont be sectioning a SES 3.4 rim to measure so I need another way but I am stuggling to find a suitable measuring tool.

Dimension 3 is easy enough to measure, you can get close enough with the depth feature on most Vernier or digital calipers. If you want to nail it down very precisely, a depth micrometer probably with a blade rather than a flat point, e.g. Starrett 449MAZ-75R
Dimension 2 is tricky because there's no clear flat or edge to reference, but you should be able to get some idea with a groove micrometer such as a Mitutoyo 146-121
It's worth noting that my drawing is based on the Mavic UST dimensioned drawings issued in the Open Pro UST press kit. Dimension 1 is 0.6mm, dimension 2 is 1.74mm from the OD of the rim to the point where the fillet under the hook is tangent to the side wall, and dimension 3 is 5.2mm. The hook can be bigger than my drawing, but not smaller.
And this is why I drew a picture; I still don't know what you're talking about, so I can't tell you which measuring instrument you need.
