Sadly yes, but there have been hardware announcements at them too... I'm Nort expecting anything this year though. Mac Pro is 2019 and I feel anything Mac mini /egpu related will be tied to that.

Hey, if they focus their attention on the software and do a Snow Leopard, that's fine with me.
Still in the awkward situation of my 7 year old laptop being "good enough". Literally no point in replacing it until the replacement motherboard de-solders itself again.

You getting any weird video glitches happening yet? Yours will probably last forever...
-
• #12830
Nah, not yet. The first time it went, it was catastrophic and looked like contemporary video art from the early 90's. No warning signs at all.
Now the replacement program is over, if it happens again it's new laptop time.
These days I'm not really stressing it with high temps as it's no-longer used for gaming on the side so will probably last forever. Apparently the replacement boards switched to a more resilient solder as well. -

Also I'm not buying a MBP until they have reliable keyboards. I can just about forgive the dongle situation. Just.
If only ThinkPads ran Mac OS...

Mine used to get incredibly hot, was very good about keeping the internals as clean as possible and all that rubbish but it still died... The new one is so quick it's amazing really, runs those two Thunderbolt monitors, Logic and CC without batting an eyelid... It still annoys me that it cost so much, I'm kind of holding that against it... I normally bond quite closely with my computer (weirdo) but that hasn't happened with this one, I resent it more than anything...

Hah, I know what you mean. It's a tactile object that keeps a roof over your head – why not bond with it :)
I'll see what the next ones are like and maybe utilise some student discount connections if the gravity is strong enough... They really are incredibly expensive.

Thats all you need to know about the new ones.

• #12835
Oh boy... Is that using an external blow dryer?
-
• #12836
HUH?
-
• #12837
eGPU... You mean it's playable with an integrated GPU? Thats bonkers.
-
• #12838
YEAHHHH thats non eGPU. Mental ey?
-
• #12839
Now that Intel and AMD are besties, I wonder if we'll see an on-die GPU like they've done with Hades Canyon but in a laptop. That would be cool (probably a bit warm, really).
-
• #12840
I asked the same question somewhere else and the answer was never on the 13 due to power draw. 15’s might be possible.

Hades Canyon Mac Mini with optional eGPU...

• #12842
Oh don’t. Total insta buy. Oh they also need to sort out plugging their LG designed displays into egpus, or manage graphic switching at an OS level far better.
-
• #12843
Well they’ve got some GPU related black-ops R&D going on in the UK. Somethings happening...
-
• #12844
Yeah, they keep cropping up on my LinkedIn actually as an Apple recruiter got in touch with me a while back and connected.

Best email client for mac? I've got about 5 accounts which I need to switch between two laptops.
MS Outlook is okay, but on the 13" MacBook Pro, the font size is HUGE and I'm constantly scrolling to see anything.
Apple Mail is on a 13 MacBook Air, but doesn't have an integrated calendar function, the mailbox structure is a mess, and it doesn't always play well with exchange.
Any other options out there that work a little better?
-
• #12846
I use Spark at work because exchange... It's actually incredibly nice and I would totally use it for my google stuff if I wasn't so married to the Inbox app/website.

I've just bought a 2013 Macbook Pro for my in-laws who live in France.
Does anyone by any chance have spare European plugs that they want to swap for brand new British ones?(just the long lead and small pluggy bits, not the power supply itself)

Where’s good to get the lightning connector and battery replaced on an iPhone 6, if I didn’t want to spend apple store bucks?
Charging my phone has become a game of russian roulette and I’d like to sort it whilst I can still charge it.
Thanks -

May have a long lead, unless I left it in Paris.
WWDC is coming up pretty soon. That's usually just Mac OS/iOS stuff and not hardware, right?
