Tao is a good guy and class act.

Tao's very strong mentally and that ^^ sort of thing doesn't surprise me.
Will he aim to win the ToC next year (assuming for Bernal it was just a preparatory race for challenging at the GTs?
It does seem young for Bernal, but isn't it a safer assumption that he won't be riding the Tour in challenger mode, just to get to know itand gain experience?

The Eurosport commentary was funny.
‘Aru looks like he’s suffering even when he’s coming down for breakfast’

Eurosport commentary was funny.
Was this before Carlton 'incoherent steam of Mallet's Mallet inspired drivel' Kirby took the microphone?
I. Cannot. 🐻. Him.

White jersey?
I can guarantee what Bernal’s answer will be if asked whether he wants to ride the Tour. It is the best of the best.

Brillant.

He really surpassed himself yesterday. Utterly woeful.

Laser...guided...tour...de force...his opponents to bend...left handed... him the victory...salute...the flag... ship the pain...
Endless, endless non sequiturs, only connected to the cycling in the flimsiest sense.

I might throw something at the telly next time someone "puts out a fire"
Also, his Pinot Noir quip pissed me off more than it should. It's the smugness in his voice at the stupid things he's just said that adds to awfulness of it all.

What's the logic of who gets to commentate between Kirby and Hatch. Much prefer the latter, even with his unusual pronunciation
-

One to watch from the start today I think. Are Eurosport showing the whole stage?
-
• #17314
Pre-show is on now so I'm hoping so...
-
• #17315
Hmmmm...
Somewhat convenient for Viviani (who everyone wants to drop at the start today) that the neutral start is being being extended up that initial climb due to a mechanical of one his teammates...

Insert "Giro Helping The Italians" conspiracy theories here....

Aru and a few others got penalised overnight due to drafting?
-
• #17318
Israel Cycling Academy finally visible. None of the WT teams motivated to blow this up sadly.
-
• #17319
Yes. Aru was the most flagrant.

Sanches flicks the finger!! Surely fined for that ?
-
• #17321
Flicks the finger? At who? :)
-
• #17322
froome and lopez caught out in the split. Yates and dumoulin in the peloton by the looks of things.
-
• #17323
Hugh Carthy maybe.

Nervy stuff

Poor Sam. He looked gutted.
I’ll keep my personal over-generalised opinions to myself regarding particular nationalities though...
I also wonder if they will take Tao with him, given how well they worked together at ToC
Did you guys hear the stories of how Tao was on the radio with Bernal once he attacked, while hanging back with Teejay, and Tao was asking Bernal to watch for and name him different points in the road, to which then Tao was actually counting seconds to understand the gap? the kind of level of cooperation I'm sure it's rare to see in more mature riders
