  • 18inch roller kits are very expensive, wanted to try, and follow some advice, and see if it was just as easy as spraying. Looking at a few videos seems that the 18inch makes things quicker.

Cheapest set up was from Leyland SDM at £50 for an purdy frame, purdy roller insert and wooster bucket. Ended up sticking with a 12 roller, as a insert and tray for less that £6

The purdy roller is quite flimsy, and feed back seems to say that they fall apart quite quickly, while the wooster seems to be quite plasticy and the 'legs' break.

  • I've never thought about the price of it, sorry! I've had mine for 20 years and probably only 2 rollers in that time, I do look after them though. I guess the cost was probably saved on the first job. 12" is pretty reliable and quick. 18" you need to keep the roller very flat on the wall and watch the build up at the edges, loading the roller becomes a bit more of an art. Also try to get a ceiling paint for ceilings, usually a very high solid content, it will save roller marks and time. Easy enough to price in if you have more than 1 ceiling to do.
