  • Too many scoblebricksā„¢ needs to be addressed for starters!

  • That is a quality build there! Like the paint, is a laugh!

  • Too many scoblebricksā„¢ needs to be addressed for starters!

Damn, I was about to ask if you'd considered a bike fit.

  • Haven't even ridden it yet although there's actually an argument for many scoblebricks if you're riding super gnarly stuff to raise the handlebars. A lot of pro downhill riders scoblebricks up for the very steep courses!

  • That's why my mtb has a chimney pot for a head tube :-)

  • Ooooh yes, very nice! Giving me a desire to do something more interesting paint wise with my Wicked 650b (Capra predecessor).

  • Got some rad NOS Silva bartape for the Fort, need to decide which one to go with though...

  • Wickeds are very cool! Not many of them around these days! I almost bought one myself a few years ago but couldn't find one for the budget at the time that had I build I wanted.

  • Like a big dummy dum dum head I thought it would be a good idea to degrease my Shimano Zen 55t chainring in the dishwasher and it had the effect of causing the Shimano logos to melt off the ring :(

They've not just dribbled off but they've become so soft that even rubbing your finger over them removes the pigment...

Any ideas on how to fix this? I presume they were anodised originally, is there someone who can do logos anodised on?

It also did a shit job of degreasing

  • Hopefully you won't contaminate all the dishes that you put in there subsequently as well...

What about going whole hog and just removing the logo completely? Or build it up like that anyway? It probably won't look as bad as you expect.

PS. that orange/green/purple bar tape is excellent, you've played a blinder with both sets

  • I think I'll just reassemble for now and have a think about polishing it altogether...

  • Fin.

  • Now tell me that the brakes are great ;-)

  • Even if you do have them set at an absurd angle....

  • It's for going down hills (and enduropacking) ;)

The brakes are absolutely stunning! I need to bleed the rear after shortening the hose but they're even a joy to work on!

The bike is obnoxiously fast... two wheel drifting corners and clearing gaps I used to case when I was trying despite not riding for the last 5 months due to injury!

    It's incredible!

  • So there's a decent snag list on the YT now after the dust off (in the dust) run on Saturday.

Fork seals need to be replaced as they sprung a leak fairly quickly once I got going, no big deal as they're second hand anyway, I was changing my arm to not service them beforehand...

Back brake needs to be bled after trimming the hose although it still feels great, just not as great as the uncut front...

Dropper lost all pressure after the seat unscrewed the lid of the chamber following some over zealous whip efforts over some gaps (disconcerting) I think it just needs to be tightened and repressurised but it seems to tighten fully past centre of the height markings on the post, seems a bit odd, will investigate.

Need a bigger chainring. Found myself only using the three smallest cogs so I reckon an extra tooth or two up front would balance a bit better, I'll want the spinny gears for #enduropacking but I'd also like a bit more go for any long flat/ slightly downhill fireroads...

Wheels need a tighten after first effort.

Frame needs to be invisiframed as I'm actually falling in love with the stupid paint. Might try the clear Gorilla tape, open to suggestions though if anyone has a recommendation?

Other than that the suspension is going to take a while to get right, oodles of adjustability so it's not really a quick setup.

  • Oh yes, that is just right, love it! Any concerns about the seatpack on the stantion of the dropper?

  • Many concerns:)

I'm thinking I might get some stainless tune and try to fab a seat tube mounted carrier for the bag so it's off the seat post entirely?

  • Im planning on some enduropacking this summer. My plan was just to wrap some inner tube round the dropper stanchion to stop it messing with it. Think it should do the job well enough.
