  • Actually the nerd factor is the allure that I would most identify with, I suppose. As a status symbol, I'd much rather a watch draw the eye of someone who appreciates it on a deeper level...

Don't kid yourself. The marketiers understand your demographic too.

Jusy look at the reddit buyer for life thread. Ops sorry I meant buy it for life ;)

  • I just did and i wish i hadn't! :-) How can sunglasses be 'buy it for life'? I can barely make a pair last one summer before i sit on them/lose them/break and arm or two off. I'm currently trying to find the sweet spot between disposable cheap and lenses that aren't like looking through a beer bottle.

  • They do many shit designs, but I like Bloc. Well made, fairly cheap and good lenses IMO.

  • TK Maxx from about last week until September

  • Csb below:

I wear a pair of Balenciaga sunglasses that my mum bought new in 1982. They’re older than me at 36 years old. My mum retired them from use about the time I turned 18 and I quite liked them so I started wearing them. That would have been 2003, I don’t wear them all the time as I have a few pairs but I wear them a lot.

I have some other stupidly expensive fashion wear that my dad doesn’t wear any more, that he bought in the 80s Givenchy, Valentino etc. Some stuff does last, but you have to take care of it.
