Yeah, peanut butter's a go to as well, but I feel like I need a bit more variety! I get a bit sick of eating the same thing all day for a few days in a row

So many flapjacks

These are great - fav for climbing/walking/swimming/whenever really
Chocolate cherry energy balls
1 cup pitted dates
1 cup dried cherries
1 1/2 cups almonds
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp vanilla paste
1/2 cup dark chocolate chipsMethod:
Add all the ingredients to a food processor bowl & blitz until they form a paste.
Roll into bite sized balls & store in the fridge until required.
Swap the cherries for cranberries & the almonds for cashews to vary things. -

Very interesting! I'll give them a go. Do they keep well out of the fridge? i.e. can I shove them in my bag for three days and still eat them later? All the ingredients would be fine individually...
(I know it says store in the fridge but just wondering)

1000 calorie sandwich - wow butter and jam. Couple of them on a ride and you'll be alright.

They do alright out of the fridge. Don’t think we've done multi day with them, but don’t see why not. It’s still just nuts and dried fruit, so should keep fine I think.

If you can read my dodgy instructions, these are really tasty, and something a bit different.

Looks good! Need to go and find some pitted dates then clearly as that's two recipes that have them now. What's the last thing on the second to last step, JA...?
Edit: think I cracked the case, it's SALT

I also make date/nut ball things.
But when I’m doing a long ride I like to make them small and mix them up in a big bag with some other stuff like popcorn, salted nuts, chunks of dark chocolate, dried fruit and coconut. Then you get random mixes of stuff when you grab a handful. -

Popcorn, good one. Savoury stuff that keeps well, isn't extremely dry and isn't extremely bulky is especially hard to find. Popcorn is a good shout (though it is admittedly still a bit bulky and dry. But more appealing than crisps, crackers, a load of oatcakes and whatnot)

Been on the jam sandwiches, working out pretty well as 'junk food' on commutes :)

how long is your commute?

23 miles to work :)
edit - eat them when I get to work, btw

There's a nice recipe for a lentil/apple loaf somewhere. It's a little bit complicated but tasty. You basically cook the lentils and fry some veg at the same time, then combine everything and stick it in the oven.

And a few miles from where I grew up.
I tend to make my own. Flapjacks, protein ball things, lots of peanut butter in everything 😅
