Hi!
The last three of us (myself, tvhalen and platypus) left chanctonbury ring at about 8?.. but veered off to do some trails/fails into steining, got food there, and headed down to shoreham to follow the coast to brighton.

Thank you all for such a lovely weekend!
Shoutout to @TvH for the extended company, fork servicing and sick BBQ skills, @7Üp with the campspot dreams are made of, @Howard @Dammit and @umop3pisdn spinning us along nicely on day 1, @eyebrows floating up the hills even when bonked out of his mind, and @wheeledwidewebb the dark horse on a perfectly even pace
let's do a ride like that again soon eh?

Yep, one of the best rides I've done in a while.
I'll to do the 75 miles from Petersfield to Eastbourne at some point relatively soonish if anyone wants to join.

Walked from shoreham to ditchling on thursday and all I could think was, are those mad bastards really going to ride this? I couldn't figure out what kind of bike would work for all the various terrains and still work on the bastard hills.
I see you turned off at the point I joined (just before the big fuckoff hill I struggled to even walk up without a couple of hands on hips breathers along the way). so you missed that fun.
weirdest part of my solo excursion was having to walk through a densely packed herd of cows completely surround a gate with their calves in tow. one of the little shits got spooked when i scuffed the dirt turning to close the gate and a cow tried to jump over the back of the cow in front of it that felt very "hold me back bro, i'm gonna fuck this guy up if you don't".

I had great fun, thanks guys.
Especially glad you all enjoyed the compression damping chat.
Good to see Neil and Henry in the wild, and I think Mr Klien would be seriously happy to see his creation being used for what it was supposed to.
I enjoyed the @7Üp chase and the subsequent collapsed guy by the side of the trail catch.
Yes on occasion I was too hot, but I was never too cold.
Did Mel make it to Eastbourne? What happened to TvH's arm? The public deserves answers.

I got a bit too rad on the Steyning trails

The problem is that if you can do 75 including the toughest bit then you could do the whole thing.

didn't realise quite how much of a difference the extra weight on the front would make, bottomed out the fork on a drop -> superman over the bars
-
• #796
Obviously I should have dialled in more compression damping
-
• #797
But I can't get to Winchester very easily

• #799
make sure to stop at the steynning trails, they're so awesome..wish we had more time there

Even rigid?
Great isn't it? My grandparents lived around the corner, for many years, used to love going with my grandfather for a drink there.
