I don't think the source of the kit really matters- mountain biking generally is akin to setting fire to money.
Personally I'd have a look at Scott xc full sussers- supposed to be excellent, and start around £1500. Can probably get some good deals by now.

I bet @coldharbour could sort you out with something suitable

I think some dickhead put him off building any more mtbs
-
• #755
I don't think he'd have the tooling to build a full sus anyway
-
• #756
He does have a distinct shortage of mills
-
• #757
Full sus is definitely not needed anyway, unless you're a bit soft :-)
Anything's got to be more comfortable than an old Klein, with tiny wheels and high pressure tyres.

Stating the obvious but obviously you don't need to spend £4k to have a useable mtb. 1x11 XT hard tail 29er with a 100mm fork, tubeless and modern geo will be half that and still very fun.
Ps I have your inner tube still.

It’s signposted all the bloody way...
-

To be fair it’s best to avoid the first sign that points you along the river

• #771
That’s one of the finest trout streams in england...
-
• #772
From a purely logistical perspective - if you want to catch lunch there I’d be cool with that

Just got home.
Lovely to meet you fellas, a most enjoyable outing, just got a bit confused with everyone’s accommodation arrangements so I decided to head out on my own from my B&B this morning.
I may be wrong but I thought you guys would probably have a reasonably leisurely starting time and I needed to be at the end before 15:00.
Thank you everyone, I loved it. -

you can see the trout swimming under the pub
Depends very much who you buy it from. I look after my stuff, and don't sell it if it's knackered.
Sadly, I have nothing to sell you.
