it's our anniversary next monday, and its a week before our first born is due. So looking for a special place to do lunch. Not looking for break the bank pricey, but someplace interesting and memorable, that has a great lunch menu.
We're in Stockwell, and can do public transport/uber, just don't want it to be too far off the beaten track.
Suggestions welcome.. -

I'd look at Otto's. Quite traditional, sort of semi formal, very goood food and they do a good lunch menu with some nice wines (for you)

Check out Coal Room in Peckham. Meaty. Smoky. Nicey.

I went to Claridges for my 1st wedding anniversary, had afternoon tea, was good.

I thought I replied to this - but obviously didn't.
I think quite a few places don't open for lunch on Mondays - so you would be slimming down your potential options. Fera, Roganic, Ledbury, Stories, Bibendum, Marcus, River Cafe, Petersham Nurseries - would probably be some of my go tos

Just booked river cafe for monday, never been, and its in budget so all good.
Hopefully there's enough on the menu for missus to be excited by it.. -

Good work - bloody love that place.
I recommend the Fontodi Flaccianello or the Chianti Classico as a less stressful option!

strong call. just got back - we're stuffed / pissed. for a place that nails meat, they a do pretty fucking good plate of cabbage. and all just a short bus ride away!
shame about the braying arseholes at the table opposite, but that's peckenham for ye.

I know watcha mean about braying. The only thing I want doing that shit is my mortadella. The seats by the kitchen are good cos it drowns out the cnuts.

I just got back from dinner at The Wolsey. It's such a comforting restaurant. Even with Norman Lamont sat at the next table.

It got a tad awks at the end when one of my dining companions got so drunk she fell asleep at the table.

Never done dinner there - breakfast a few times and it's fun/silly.

Had the misfortune to go back to Bodeans for the first time in ages recently and this review really nails it.. absolutely foul. Couldn't believe how bad it was compared to about 5-10 years ago.

Went to http://www.legsrestaurant.com/ in Homerton last week. Really decent, small plates with a smashing (verging towards spendy) wine list. Radish with bergamot salad then octopus with peas and a massive alfonse mango sorbet for afters. Saucy art in the bogs.

Really like that place, excellent wine list. If you liked it you should check out P Franco (if you haven’t already)
Maybe, I went in the evening so maybe it had gone downhill over the course of the day, I don't know, I just didn't enjoy it. Also the fact it was freezing cold really ruined it.
