Not to be that prick on the internet but which Fenwicks did you use? My housemate and I both use it and find it great it but you do need to apply it to a properly clean chain and then the old drop on each link, spin a bit then wipe of excess.

Fenwicks chain lube. Absolutely shit. Olive oil would most likely be better. Luffguss recommendation for something better?
