Always found I could identify my stupid Cannondale BB creak by putting force on the cranks when they were horizontal and holding the bike (ie not sat on it). Might help to isolate the cause.

I've tried doing it by hand but guess I'm not putting enough force through it to get it to happen. Anyway I found all my Cannondale tools (hallelujah!) and pulled the cranks off last night. Going to clean and reinstall them tonight and hope the problem goes. If not, then it's probably the bearings or BB cups which I can't be fucked dealing with - I'll just use ear plugs...

New chain and new cassette. I didn't think it was the back end because I could get it to crack at the bottom of the pedal stroke. It probably is the spider but needs more resistance in place. Stupid bikes.
