• Looks like he is riding to me, I've put a t-shirt on and everything now.

  • Well the tool I have is officially made of cheese.

  • Not very tasty cheese.

@MCamb I'll hit you up tomorrow!

  • Praxis m30 BB tool, does anyone have one in London? Weather is looking good and I really want to go ride this weekend.

  • I have the Hope BSA thirty tool - might work.

  • Thanks Howard, looking at photos they seem like they are slightly different.

  • has anyone got one of those 'Rj the bike guy'-style steel rod and bolt things for widening the dropout spacing on a steel frame?

  • I've just ordered all the bits to make one (actually more than one). Should pick it up from screwfix tomorrow. I'll let you know if it works!

  • Nice one! Cheers

PS What was / were the actual parts/s you ordered?

  • From Screwfix:

    65562 x 1 Easyfix Bright Zinc-Plated Steel Threaded Rods M8 x 300mm 5 Pack £4.29

    4109P x 1 Easyfix Carbon Steel Flange Head Nuts M8 100 Pack £2.89

    18383 x 1 Easyfix Large Flat Washers M8 x 2mm 10 Pack £0.9

  • I have E8, you can pick up the bits in B&Q for about £5 , in my experience they don't really do much good

  • Don't know if this is a useful answer (and maybe not to do with a really nice frame) - but I've always just shoved the wheel in (130mm wheel, 120mm frame) and it's been fine.

  • Also made a pair of dropout alignment thingies with a couple of big old spare sockets. Worked a treat for me.

  • Awesome! How are the sockets attached to the studding? Are they just screwed on?

  • They're just bolted tight (a nut inside the socket to secure) as the M8 rod fits easily through the socket (these are 1/2" drive ones from memory), and with the little washer for facing so as the sockets are parallel.

  • I just picked up my cold setting stuff and used it to very easily move the dropouts from 122mm to 129mm spacing. Result.

I have enough bits to make three more tools if anyone wants one. in Herne Hill SE24.

  • Anyone in west london near heathrow got a crank puller that i could borrow please.

  • Have you checked the frame alignment?

It's hard to get the re-spacing even.

  • No.

    Should do I suppose.

I rode ten miles on it last night and it felt fantastic.

Will pop into BC next time I'm passing and ask them to check it.

  • The difficulty with that method (as opposed to Sheldon's) is that one stay often flexes more that the other: small differences in materials and building.

If you didn't already know, it's easy to check frame alignment yourself.

  • Any one got a file I can use SE based?
Needs to be quite thin - 1cm width max

  • Hey mate I have some tiny files. SE4. Borrow if you like.

  • Anyone got a slotted bottom bracket tool? It's for a BB that has these kind of cups. Relevant park tool is the HCW 11

    The tool looks like this

  • I have access to one, if you can get the frame to South Ken then that's perfect, otherwise you can collect. PM me.
