  • Yes, the Guinness records. But a record doesn't have to be Guinness-approved to be a record. Isn't it the case that Gethin didn't bother to spend money with them to get his End-to-End certified, so they still recognise Wilko's record? But obviously nobody else does.
    In the internet era there is less need for a central accrediting body like Guinness.

    Although technically many of the RRA ratified records are likely in breach of Guinness rules for various reasons like bike swaps, etc.

    In Woodburn's eyes he still had the record anyway since the time gap was too small and there was a new bridge so it could be argued that Wilko's was actually slower than Woodburn's.. but that's another matter.
