It was my first club 25 of the year last night on a geared bike, after having won the 25 medium gear event on my fixed TT bike a few weeks back. Felt windy as hell, but I got a course PB and first place. #boastpost

Yeah the wind was pretty unforgiving up the hill, one of my clubmates said his normalised power was same as last week but he went 1.5 minutes slower.

I think I was overgeared as well, I was on 52 x 15, which is what I thought I'd been doing it on last year, but it felt so languid that I may be wrong. Or maybe the wind and my legs just made it a lot tougher than I remember.

You can do that from temperature using the ideal gas law.
You should also factor altitude.
Rho = pressure*M/RT

I know that would be too big for me, I wouldn't want to go higher than 88gi there as I'd rather spin on the straight than grind the hill. Tbh I wimped out of riding fixed when I saw the wind forecast.

Who wants to take bets on what's making the cracking noise on my Shiv?
Frame
BB cups
BB
Crank spline
P2M spider
Chainring
Pedal
Cassette or something else non BB area -

You missed knees off the list.
-
• #17834
Your balls on the top tube?
-
• #17835
The road won't have been designed to carry your load. It'll be the subsurface cracking.
-
• #17836
I have sexeh knees. It's definitely the bike. I'm thinking maybe...
-
• #17837
No wonder British roads are so shit. They need to uprate them.
-
• #17838
That's more of a thud, this is definitely a cracking noise, like my ankles, wrists, neck, back, etc.
-
• #17839
Hmm, with no chain on I can't get it to crack. Maybe it's not the BB/cranks after all. Could still be the chainring or the freehub body or rear hub.
-
• #17840
How old/worn is the chain? I recently replacing a chain which was creaking under load - I didn't realise how old/worn it was...
-
• #17841
New chain and new cassette. I didn't think it was the back end because I could get it to crack at the bottom of the pedal stroke. It probably is the spider but needs more resistance in place. Stupid bikes.

ECCA100 cancelled. That the two 100 I have entered that have been canceled. now I have to find another one.
Your crack could be pedals, chain ring bolts, crank/BB spinle interface, BB itself take your pick.

Yeah, it sucks. I'm going to enter the EDCA one in Norfolk on the B100/4 It's on the 15th July.
I rode it last year, really flat DC course, bit bumpy in parts. Not as fast as the ECCA 100 obviously. -

Skewers? So many times I’ve spent hours searching for a creak and it’s been skewers.
-
• #17847
I'll look at that but its only 6 days before the 24hr. I should be tapering but hey life too short to taper.
-
• #17848
skewer tend to creak but not at specific point in the pedal stroke. Cracks or creaks at particular points in the pedal stroke is more likely than not to be pedal/cranks/bb but never rule anything out including your knees and hips.

Always found I could identify my stupid Cannondale BB creak by putting force on the cranks when they were horizontal and holding the bike (ie not sat on it). Might help to isolate the cause.

Any idea what the box attached to the downtube is? First thought was one of those auto lubricant dispenser things but there's no tube to the chain.....
Sky TT bike at Giro:
First TT of the season last night in the Tuesday Tens.
It was horrible, and I think my slowest time ever there.
