  • My comments relate to appropriate language - perhaps political correctness at it’s finest. Use of the word ‘traveller’ is appropriate - other terms (which I have deliberately not used) are not, with the exception of ‘gypsy’ which solely relates to Romany Gypsies. I am not commenting on anything other than appropriate language.

The initial post may demonstrate a prejudiced view of this community, or some form of stereotyped image of their community.

    I’ll stick to appropriate language.

  • That's not an answer to my question. Saying that travellers are an ethnic minority because that's 'appropriate language' is no better an argument than saying that travellers are an ethnic minority 'because I say they are'. Or adopting a Humpty Dumpty approach to linguistics.

How can travellers be an ethnic minority when they are an ethnically diverse group of people? It's a simple enough question, and flying the canard of political correctness isn't an answer either.
