£570 according to that, but I had a bunch of stuff and got a bunch of bargains thanks mostly to the mighty forum.

Think it’s hi-mod. Tejvan (former national champ) build his bike around a Trek Emonda.

  • Going full carbon rims and tubs this year so should get it down to 4.9kg or some such nonsense.

  • Cool, thanks. I want to build to get a better mechanical knowledge and your project looked like fun.
I was out bid last minute yesterday for a Hi-mod frameset, £550 it sold for. Thoughts on that price?

  • You got a himod f+f for £100? wow

  • It was crashed

  • Any idea how one might get hold of an insurance write off? Besides from the rider.

  • Controversial

  • I know I know.
I had also got all excited till £1500!!

  • Hah so did I. Although I was going to rag it until the end of the season as a crit bike too.

  • There is one on eBay in the colour way I like wants £1700 for I think a 2012 bike.
Same frame sold for £550 yesterday!

  • I happened upon goats and noticed they have very long tails. What are these?

    Sheep?

^ I was thinking the same.. The face looks like a sheep IMO..

    Those are hair sheep.

Ok, I was wondering that too. I guess the person who wrote the title simply didn't know the difference!

Yep, sheep

Sometimes hard to tell the difference.

  • Difficult. They should be destroyed or returned to the insurers but i suspect a fair few end up on eBay as ‘used’.

CAAD10 might be a good budget option? Plenty stiff and light enough I’d have thought? Also a bit easier to spot if it has been in a big ‘incident’.

  • James Lowden (also big winner) rode / maybe still rides a Planet X nano/super/ultra light road frameset. Sure they can be had cheap if you can find one. I did see a lot of super sixes at races last year. I also read somewhere that it was the stiffest frame tested in a big round up some time ago.

  • Good additions to the list.
    I’ve currently been looking for,
Felt F series, Supersix, Tarmac and canyon ultimate.
I just wondered if anyone had any contacts for the destroyers or insurers...

  • What's your budget? No point going for a top end frame if you'll have to scrimp in other places. Unless you get lucky the frame will probably be the worst £/g saving.

A stiff 1.5kg aluminium frame with 1kg wheels would be better than a flexy kilogram frame with heavier wheels.

  • I don’t have a budget per se but I’d see this as a slow burning project, hence why I’m looking to get lucky with a frame well ahead of the autumn. I was thinking harder to get decent light wheels...?
Not stuck to carbon just seen a lot of Supersix weight weenie builds so seemed the obvious first choice.

  • Y’all realise I’m selling one...

  • Chinese rims & hubs + Sapim Lasers and a good wheelbuilder. Vittoria Corsa Speed (or Pista Speed) tubs.

Easier than finding a cheap, light, stiff frame.

Cranks, finishing kit, all good places so save weight cheaply too.

  • Amen to this. @eyebrows is the fountain of HC forum success.

  • I've got an ultimate and it is very very very good at going uphill.

gunna try and get some light wheels and do the season this year

  • I’ve an Ultimate disc worse case scenario...

    Sorry but I’m 6’3” @eyebrows

  • I just wondered if anyone had any contacts for the destroyers

Ring around the carbon bike repair companies - they will have seen a few.

  • I picked up your bike at the weekend. Its well built, thats for sure

    ;)

  • You calling my bike fat!?
