that looks like it's gone through more than one layer of material, wtf!

Paint and primer I reckon. Don’t think Max is a laminated tube set...

It'll be fine ATMO

Guess I’ll just size down to 23c and keep riding it then!

Tried googling this to the absolute death
Singlespeed disc dropouts. Options? I’d love to find trek stranglehold’s as they seem perfect but is there any viable options?

Paragon machine works rocker dropouts

There's also slider dropouts

Also consider EBB for ease of wheel removal/ not dicking around with calipers all the time.

..... and also that crank/ring /heel clearance is a big issue with sliders etc...

I really like this bike. Fixed/SS with discs?
-
• #489
Yeah, CK ss hubs and dura ace di2 hydro shifters. It's got a bushnell bb to allow for chain tension, but it means he can easily swap out to di2 as and when he wants.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but...
I'm looking for someone to make some modifications to my Surly, namely adding a hanger and cable routing for a rear mech (easy bit) and, if possible, an integrated seat clamp so I can use a hite rite. The seat tube has a 30mm od and Ceeway have this
http://www.framebuilding.com/NEWPARTSPAGES/NEWIMAGES/lugs.h63.jpg
It's says the LS01-0B is for a 30mm tube. Is it as simple as that? In my mind the fact that the seat tube has already been split might be an issue, but I don't really know what I'm taking about. -

Like a big dummy dum dum head I thought it would be a good idea to degrease my Shimano Zen 55t chainring in the dishwasher and it had the effect of causing the Shimano logos to melt off the ring :(
They've not just dribbled off but they've become so soft that even rubbing your finger over them removes the pigment...
Any ideas on how to fix this? I presume they were anodised originally, is there someone who can do logos anodised on?
(Figured if anyone would know it might be someone on here?)

it was probably screen printed.
I would touch it back in with a marker pen, would probably look ok at a distance. only way to get it like new would be to get it re printed

Modifying old frames to take disc brakes. I know you usually need a strut to reinforce the seatstay. Is it possible to put the caliper on the chainstay instead, perhaps with a strut as well, so that it doesn't interfere with a rack?
What is the reasoning behind putting it on the seatstay in most cases? Frame not designed with enough clearance perhaps? It looks like it would be difficult in a lot of cases e.g. this:

Space is the only reason not to. If it is inside on the chainstay then it doesnt need bracing in most cases.

Cool, thanks. Is there an easy way to determine whether a disk caliper/rotor would fit without the parts to hand?

get specs off shimano and draw out on paper. need to do a lot of measuring but not impossible.
This may a good place to ask... how thin is Columbus Max tubing? Clearances on my frame are mega tight, 1mm with 25mm tyres...just took the rear wheel out to clean and discovered a patch of paint missing on my seat tube. The bare metal patch then seems to have even further wear. Could the seat tube be weakened now? Looks like this:
