Which Amber Wall Tyres 700x25?

Posted on
  • Looking for a pair of 700c x 25mm amber wall clinchers for an old 531 refurb. In recent years I've used the following:

Schwalbe Lugano (awful - cheap looking and susceptible to tread deformation. You get what you pay for at <£10/tyre)
Panaracer Pasela (lovely - really well-made, grippy, sound good, but not the best puncture resistance. £25/tyre)
Veloflex Master (nice - well-made, good tread pattern, lightweight, so not really suited to general use. £25/tyre)

The bike will be used as an all-rounder, so the tyre needs to be relatively puncture resistant. I haven't bought anything new in this spec during the last 12 months, so wondering what other options & recommendations are out there?

  • gravelking

  • GKs are good but they cut up very easily

  • Clement strada where good to me a few years ago during winter. But they get mixed reviews..

  • Continental Grand Prix Classic?

  • Specialized Turbo Cotton.

The colour is fantastic. Really orange.

  • Paselas or Clement Strada. Commuted on both now and hard to really pick a winner.

Found the Stradas slightly easier to keep clean.

  • I found/find Strada pretty good

  • I'm running Vittoria Corsa G+ on my best bike - been really impressed with them without any major issues in the past 12 months.

  • I've got these and they're a bit disappointing. They're not really as high-contrast as others, and they're not as good as my GP4000s.

  • Michelin Classics for the budget end of the market. I’ve found them consistently good for all weather commuting.
