Did you consider the wapha merino socks? Branded on the toes but not above the shoeline.

They're actually kinda off-white but it helps in the wash. Lightweight as well, fine for British summer temps.

If you want totally plain white, and are happy with generic 'athletic' rather than cycling specific, then I've found M&S's basic range pretty good considering you get four pairs for a fiver!

It's a little frustrating how rare plain white socks seem to be. I've been looking too, La Passione seem to have some but only XS-S are in stock.
