  • @Rich_G, @jaw I’m not trolling, Benitez is as good or better than any of the managers you’ve had since you let him go after he won you the UEFA Europa League.

And he beat your guys with a Newcastle team that everyone acknowledges is of championship quality and needs shit loads of investment. And he kept them up fairly easy.

How different would the boom or bust cycle be at Chelsea if he were still in charge?
If he’d had Hazard and willian, and costa and kante and how much would he have improved bakayoko or drinkwater or rudiger.

  • I'm no Benitez hater and think he did a good job atchelsea but he was never going to taken to the hearts of hard core Chelsea fans.

different club would bring a differnt set of pressures.

Benitez has done great job at Newcastle.
But if Benitez had stayed I think he would have been another manager too the Boom and Bust list.
    but who knows hay

  • Corney, my dear chap, this is, of course, arrant nonsense. Chelsea's aim is to win trophies. Benitez has won some trophies but not nearly as many as Chelsea has in his active years.
Newcastle won because Chelsea couldn't be bothered. We would have lost to any team in the league yesterday. The manager gave up after the Liverpool game and the palyers really couldn't be bothered. They were playing for nothing and risking injury ahead of the World Cup. They were tapering ready for their big push in the summer.

Newcastle were lauded by the appalling commentary team for gaining the same number of points since Christmas as Chelsea. Chelsea have been woeful since Christmas. Not quite sure what level of achievement is for Benitez. "Hey, I have done as well as a woeful team".

Anyway, rebuilding starts as soon as they find a way to get rid of Conte for less than £9 million.

  • @cornelius_blackfoot I’m not here to attack him or his record as a manager.
Some people are the right fit and others just aren’t. Do you look back fondly of George Graham’s time at Spurs?
