I remember you telling me! But That’s the other one after claypit though? This is before claypit.

The whole forest to you is either the bit before or after Claypit Hill.

They all meld into one after you've smashed your head into a tree. I rode both today and didn't see it. Loads of new little kickers though.

Any suggestions for suspension forks that fit 29"x2.4" tyres with 100-120mm travel?
-
• #11406
manitou mattoc or machete? xfusion slide?
-
• #11407
actually if you only want 2.4 I think almost any 120mm forks will do. my SID can take a 2.4 no prob
-
• #11408
Reba rl 120mm is the best value imo but I think most will fit, any wider and your into boost forks.

• #11409
Really?!
-
• #11410
yup, clearance on mine is actually tighter on the rear than the front
-
• #11411
Cool thanks guys. I might get a good deal on X Fusion Slide.
-
• #11412
My X-Fusion fits a 2.6 Nobby Nic, so that'd work fine.

2.4” didn’t strike me as a classic XC size...
-
• #11414
tru XCers run a 2.4" DHF with all the knobs shaved off
-
• #11415
if you're building a custom frame and using a big clearance fork, can I suggest designing around a 2.6" tire? that's something that no (?) off the peg frames clear (you either get 2.4 or 3.0), and would be really cool to have custom - also I will buy a frame off you that fits that :)

;-)
Well, I can't really see myself needing anything bigger than 2.4 to be honest. I am quite content with 2.2".
Really I am mostly building this to get a frame size that fits. My inseam is not normal so I get a lot of exposed seat post and because I am also hench it tends to bend. -

Looking forward to seeing that project. I expect a mighty head tube ;-)

It is not that bad actually.
150mm headtube... So far it looks sort of composed I think.
I am probably going to make it with a tandem 44.5mm downtube squished at the BB shell (a la Max) and use a Zona 35mm downtube as top tube and a Columbus Zona R800 seattube we had them make in 600mm. I wanted to go for a dropper, but the bigger seat tube sizes can't be bend to R800 yet. They are working on it.And then I will be using a @Konga yoke and my own wishbone design in T45 steel. It will be the Volvo v70 of MTBs

I'm sure @coldharbour will appreciate that

Those Konga yokes look good. I think I've seen one of those on a recent Mecredi, and also being used on a future Hartley bike.

Here is a photo of the first prototype Sam build with the above mentioned tubes and a T47 bb shel.
I don't have a photo of the finished thing but it looks beasty

I have vernier caliper envy now.
-
• #11423
why not an offset seat tube, if you want to use a dropper?
-
• #11424
I have no idea.
I am just making it look nice (atmo) and trying to be sensible geometry wise.Suggestions for geometry tweaks welcome.
Sam at Stayer tell me I need to slacken headtube to 65 and steep seat tube a bit

slacken headtube to 65
Errmm
I flew off that drop (or at least, a pretty big log drop somewhere around there) last year, blind, on a cross bike. Did not end well.
