Its a two speed hub, with direct drive and 138% drive. You pedal back slightly and it shifts either up or down. High gear has a loud freewheel, low is quiet. Doesn't have any cables going in, all contained with in the hub. Was a neat solution for getting another gear without hassle.
Takes a bit of getting used to, but its great once you have it down. Feel free to come give it a go if you fancy.
