Yea, pretty much.. or one of the mirror-less system cameras as well.
If you want simplicity but more options (and can do with manual focusing only) I'd get a manual SLR.
If you want autofocus capability as well I'd go for a modern SLR.Everybody will suggest one brand or the other.
If you go for an autofocus one I'd say buy a Canon, as both lenses and bodies are good and cheap.
If you go for manual focus I'd say go to a second hand store and hold them in your hand. Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus etc.. they all made great stuff back in the day, so you can't go wrong basically, just choose one that feels nice.The only thing I personally would do differently if I were to start over with cameras now is getting a 35 instead of a 50mm as a first lens (you will basically feel right at home, coming from the Mju).

Yeah good point. I guess I do very much like the simplicity of a Mju. Autofocus is nice but manual would be cool too. There've been times where I couldn't get the shot I wanted because of autofocus. Would be nice to have interchangeable lenses too. I guess that fits the description of an SLR.
