@BRM suggestion of mk5 gti will certainly be as capable as you need but it’s not very “exciting” or “interesting”.
R56 Mini Cooper S JCW might just be in budget?
Others might argue that’s similarly mundane.

Hello! Long time no posting from me. I've finally got bored of my 15year old E46 compact and looking of getting shot of it for something more fun. Got a budget of 5k or so and want something more interesting/faster/bigger. Perhaps a sporty estate or a hot hatch. Anyone got any tips?
