Fancy giving this a try, would anyone be interested in a little forum grass track race?

I'd give it a go. Some time ago the chaps at twickenham cycle club were organising races. Looked like a laugh.

I have been considering it this year, but I never get back from work in time, plus the 'track' in Leeds is rubbish and dunno if I have clearance for cross tyres..

Your frame probably does, it's usually your fork that doesn't.
Get a new fork.

Grass track racing is fun, tires can be a problem, a lot of people run dry cyclocross tires, mostly on old steel frames or something else but with cheap cyclocross or touring forks, however it is possible to run road tires on a dry/hard track. Mildenhall rally is one of the biggest meetings and there are lots others in the eastern region of which I have done most. If you want to start out there is a meeting at Ashwell (good event and good track) on the 14th september here https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/83641/Ashwell-Autumn-Grass-Track-Meeting#summary

We have some very low profile treaded tyres in stock if you're interested, I think they're sold as 13 or 25c but come up a little under 28. Plenty of grip.

Thanks for the info!
I'd likely be on my brooklyn with a cx fork and some trail tyres.

And what tyres? Thought about trying to fit some of the Schwalbe Cx pro to see if they clear..

I checked out Mildenhall this year, was very good and really want to give it a go, will try and make ashwell as well.

Seems like there's enough interest to get a forum day together, surely others will join in too just for the fun of it.

for those who do go to Ashwell the map on bc is always bad so use thishttp://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=17/52.04228/-0.13908

I'm thinking of giving this a go next weekend at the meeting in Woodbridge. Is anyone else going to be around for that? Has anyone been doing any of this in the meantime?

Unfortunately I didn't, I couldn't make the Woodbridge one because the exhaust fell off my car on the way to a TT the weekend before and I couldn't get it fixed in time.

Anybody done this really looks fun was going to try Leeds where they have banked track starts in may and may use the Bob Jackson or may just build something for it.
