Covet thy Neighbours bike? Bianchi Rekord 910S with Campag Chorus and Deltas?

My new neighbour noticed I was a cyclist and asked me to have a look at his bike. He wants some info on it - think he took it in part exchange (as he liked the look of it) for a classic Italian motorbike, years ago and been hanging on his wall since. (He owns a classic European motorbike sourcing/selling company).

I’ve done a little research, as my Bianchi knowledge is slim at best.
This is what I’ve found so far:

Bianchi Rekord 910 S - German market frame rebuilt (originally Shimano 600) with full Campag Chorus groupset (early 90’s ??) right down to the pedals (with matching clips & as new straps!), engraved seatpost, Celeste Ti Flight, original Celeste Bianchi Silica Impero frame pump, Chorus hubs on Mavic Open Pro AND mint Delta brakes, Cinelli bars+stem.

It’s in great condition, everything seem as new.
He’s asking if he should sell it, as he’s never ridden it and is just wall art.

Can anyone help with the back story/more info (from selling vintage motorbikes, he values the background), to me it’s like those Ferrari Dino’s you find in a barn in Texas.

The forum has had a few tatty Rekords sell (£300-600) and steel-vintage.com in Germany sold a few older set up ones sell for up to $3500. And eBay loves a mint Delta brakeset for $1500+ LOL

Can anyone fill in some blanks?

The Deltas are Campagnolo Croce D'Aune.
Pedals are also Croce D'Aune along with the chainset (I think).
Seat post looks to be Chorus which was also used for the CDA group.
CDA group was 1987 - 1991.

The Chorus parts would appear to be later.

I wonder why the rear dropouts have mudguard eyes and the fork dropouts don't?

Just for clarification: pedals are C-Record, not CdA

I wondered about those mudguard eyes too. Also, the decal on the fork just says ‘Special Columbus’ - what’s that all about? What is the frame actually made of? The paint job, assuming it’s original, is particularly uninspiring.

My impression is that it’s a fairly ordinary frame built with some classy parts.

Below is a pic of the frame sticker, is the tubing a Bianchi branded OTP Columbus tubing? Could only find a catalogue scan from Japan with specs.

I wondered if the paint was original, as it has blue lined lugs? If it’s been redone it’s a fairly proper job but maybe with a slightly off paint code (aren’t there 3 Bianchi Celeste’s)

I spoke to him yesterday and he seems keen to sell, any ball park price thoughts for an uninspiring “Celeste-ish” Bianchi with fancy trimmings? Or is it a matter of “whatever someone will pay”?

Yes I think the pointy ones are either Pista or Aero models.

So the frame dates between 1985-1987 and from my readings the tubing is equivalent to Columbus SL butted variety, but generally agreed as a bit of a 2 year Bianchi mystery, I’d need to dismantle/chop up to find out for defs.

Those pedals are worth a lot on EBay.
Croce Deltas are awful.

@davidual so you just dislike Deltas? As both models look the same, aside from external springs on CdA.......!

Rekord frames are pretty low end/undesired.

Group set is nice, but not 100% matchy matchy.

You'd probably get £1000ish on ebay if you wait long enough, split the frame would maybe be 200-300, groupset if parted out up to 600 ish.

If you switched the group over to a more banging frame like a Bianchi Caurus in columbus max you'd maybe touch the 2k market

steel-vintage's prices are fucking mental and I've no idea who is buying them apart from bored stockbrokers.

I’ve been edging towards the same conclusion after a couple of days of reading.
The owner is more an appreciator than an enthusiast, and seems to want to move it on. Thanks for the price guides, gives me a good ball park to go back to him with.
