Not a good look but it'll only be yet another lie. The people who will keep him in power do not care, in fact his audacity is just proof that he's a maverick sent from heaven to drain the swamp, lock her up and build the wall. Uneducated religious fuckwits and xenophobes, all drinking from the same poisoned well of cynical misinformation. History's fools.

I expect that Giuliani's intervention will have been cleared with Trump and is an exercise in damage limitation, as they may have managed to convince him that it would have come out whatever the weather. Someone else saying it (who can be believed to finally reveal the truth) is probably better for them than Trump admitting it and people being able to make a little video with both statements spliced together. Still, the President of the United States has been shown to lie. Not a good look.
