Question - voting tomorrow, I am tempted to vote Lib Dem to show Corbyn that I do not agree with him on Brexit, is this a waste of time? My borough has 54 councillors, and they are all Labour.
Probably. But do you want to vote for what you believe in, or to try and make sure the wrong lizard doesn't get in?
-
• #91007
I think the way to make the Conservative Party sack May and shit-can Brexit is to punish them tomorrow by taking away their "safe"councils - but my council is not one of those.
There's a non-zero chance of a reality in which Lewisham swings from 54 labour councillors to 54 Tory, but I'd put it at very, very close to zero, so my voting Lib-Dem won't do much in terms of wrong lizard, but might make Corbyn take notice. Or that's my thinking, if I dare call it that.

I can’t get over libdem homophobia/ religious righteousness and if Lambeth the greens seem to be making a strong case to make a difference.
Edit obvs not Lambeth but homophobia still applies. -

That's a point, and there are Green candidates.

I use a bikeboxallen. I don't recall the cost but it works.

54 labour councillors
53 labour, 1 green, I think

Shit, voting tomorrow?

Is there a minimum recommended clearance between tyres and seat/chain stays?
Or a rule of thumb as with mudguards, which is 5mm.
-
• #91014
If you finish a ride and your chainstay has no paint left, your tyres were too wide for the clearance offered. ;)
5mm sounds good. Mine were 2mm with 35s and that looked way too close if I was to ride anything slightly muddy. But if you're definitely riding muddy then 5mm is probably too close too.
-
• #91015
Well paint loss is pretty definitive, but I was hoping not to add to the to-do list.
I have 2mm and agree it doesn't look enough.

Where is @mdcc_tester when you want a definitive answer?

Same here. They're great, but they're over double the £200 budget.

Depends what surfaces you're riding on. If you're riding on mud, you need clearance for mud. If you're riding on silky smooth perfect roads, and your wheels are as stiff as hell, you don't need much clearance at all.
5mm is a reasonable starting point though. I'd be a bit wary of having much less, even on a road bike.

Looking up the answer in EN14781...yup, 4mm as I thought

Trying to compare incomparables that are too vague. :) You could construct scenarios in which either is more wasteful.

Re clearance: thanks all!

Where did you get access to en14781?

I'm going to vote Green I think, which is a sentence I'm surprised to find myself typing.
-
• #91024
There isn't a definitive answer because it depends what muck you ride through.

Driving to the polling station in your v12 30L wagon to vote Green?
I travelled a lot with an Evoq bike bag, worked well.
