• You can’t do anything other than nerg. But you might not even be able to do that.

eBay punishes them if they pull this too many times.

  • Nah ownership transferred, all sorted.

  • Why the holy fuck do sellers of seatposts on eBay never quote the length of the post from the top to rhe minimum insertion line?

Surely the second most important measurement after diameter.

    Never.

  • I sold something on eBay which didn't arrive according the buyer. I then made claim with royal mail. However haven't heard anything form them. Anyone had any success stories?

  • Did you send it tracked / signed for?

Shutl dealt with my utterly destroyed hubs on delivery quite well.

  • Had to do several claims RM over the years, never had a problem with it. As long as you have your proof of postage and the relevant cover then it should all go fine. How long has it been since you sent your claim in?

  • that gives me hope. I raised the claim on the 13th of april :)

  • Bought something on Buy It Now for collection in central london. Just a bit of furniture, £150. Bought on 12th, Saturday.

Immediately messaged seller to arrange collection.

So far, silence from the seller. Nothing. Messaged again yesterday, still nothing.

What gives, and what now? Nerg then start refund process?

  • Item was to be collected but you paid PayPal?

Sounds dodgy. Seller maybe gonna claim you already collected? Contact PayPal ASAP.

  • I’m not bothered - eBay will always side with the buyer unless the seller has some kind of proof the item was collected.

The thing was so obscure I can’t imagine it being a scam.

    I just want the thing!

  • Yeah they do tend to.

Buyer arranging their own courier and then claiming they haven’t received us a pretty common scam, was thinking this sounds kinda similar but maybe not.

  • The thing was so obscure
    I just want the thing!

    Sounds kinky. What is it

  • ....a SHELF!!!

    But a special £150 shelf.

  • Bought something

    Just a bit of furniture

The thing was so obscure I can’t imagine it being a scam.

  • Why would I need another?

  • I think that’s the least erotic thing I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen some pretty un-erotic stuff.

  • lol ebay / parcelforce

  • 10/10 for packing

Good thing you didn’t want the forks I guess?

  • In other news the penis bed seller has got in touch to arrange collection

  • A fortuitous packing error, at least

  • I bought a bike in Germany via the ebay classifieds site.

Arrived in a Hermes branded plastic covering. No packaging whatsoever.

Which was fine until I discovered that the cuntseller hadn't told me the left pedal was stuck, or that in trying to remove it he'd rounded off the pedal spanner point and fucked the allen key hole as well. Super fun times sorting that out, eh?

PayPal is useless as ever and thinks I'd like to pay 40 euros for the privilege of sending it back to the arsehole.

  • Wondering what people’s opinions are on this:

Buy item, pay + postage. Guy says hey whereabouts in London are you, i’ll drop it off. We arrange and he says he’ll be in meetings, but will drop it off with his daughter, I can get it whenever I want from her. It’s v close to my work

Should I ask him to refund me some / all of the postage fee (£25) feels like I should seeing as he’s not posting it or really going out of his way, other than bringing the item into town with him. I haven’t brought it up yet, so wondering how strong a stance I should take..?

  • You could be cheeky, cancel the whole thing and pay in cash. Split the saving on Paypal fees. And ask for the postage.

Depends if you're likely to want to return the item though (say if it's not as described)

  • He should be refunding you 100% of the delivery cost, no other outcome is reasonable in my opinion (and he should have offered to do it himself). If you choose to give him something for his time even though he failed to actually deliver it that's your call.

  • drop it off with his daughter, I can get it whenever I want from her. It’s v close to my work

Hmm that's awkward, but no more awkward than had it ended up in the post office depot I suppose.

He should be refunding you 100% of the delivery cost, no other outcome is reasonable in my opinion

The problem with this is that eBay charges on the full final value including postage, so if he refunds the whole lot, he ends up being out of pocket. I'd suggest going halves.

Because the other problem which is slightly more conceptual is that postage on eBay kinda means 'I get the thing to you' which, should @MCamb actually end up with the thing, the seller has achieved with a similar inconvenience to a normal delivery assuming the item needs to be signed for.

That said when I dropped off some wheels with a chap at a station I refunded the postage minus a quid or two for eBay hassle.
