A guy I know invented "roast toast" he says the best toaster isn't actually a toaster at all.
He uses the oven and bakes his slices a light golden brown. I have to contend, it was bloody excellent with lurpak (of course).

My mate has a toast rack that he puts directly over the flame on his gas hob... He loves it...

Sounds great! I must admit I like dualit toast, but "roast toast" was borne out of a drunken conversation of the "right amount of fluff versus crispy outer", so roast toast was invented due to the consistency of result!
