Spendy but has a large tank and, more importantly for you, the water drops rather than runs down something. Definitely sounds like a tap.
Maybe put it next to / near the tap?

Ta for the tips @ExTra and @pjhobs . I'm going to try find a cat fountain that most accurately imitates a running tap, then load that bad boy up with (a little bit of) tuna juice. She's also 17 years old, and I suspect a creeping deafness is playing a role in the decibels she has taken to emitting.
