I would guess a road frame would have a better geometry to ride for long distance but it would have less advantage compared with a MTB for off road riding.
This is the problem... you can't have both.
You need to choose, do you want to ride long distance on road? If the answer is yes then just buy a fixed gear frame and fit the biggest tyres you can.Do you want to ride off road? If the answer is yes then you buy an old mountain bike and make the necessary modifications.
Personally I think an old mountain bike is the best choice.
This is an old Specialized Rockhopper. This is what you need albeit with some disc mounts added.
That is nice but I don’t know what would be best for my use, I still want something fixed, with MTB tires with a EURO BB to put a BMX or MTB crankset, a 1" 1/8 headtube some dropouts that make chain tensioning possible and if possible a non-sloping frame.
It would be an all round bike to ride roads as well as forest tracks or such. So I don’t know if an old road frame or an old MTB frame would be best. I would guess a road frame would have a better geometry to ride for long distance but it would have less advantage compared with a MTB for off road riding. I still want something that looks like what I originally posted so I would prefer a road frame but I am opened to advices from you.
