  • Lol. Were you amping your 425s? Big difference IMO. All subjective though obv.

  • no.

I can tell they sound different but subjectively no worse to me. I think its the isolation i value them more than anything.

  • Anyone here have the BW anc wireless headphones? Think maybe @Velocio ?

Looking for a review of them not from an online publisher looking to make affiliate rev. Is it annoying that they don’t fold up? Good for travel? Any other drawbacks?

For the Doris as the QC35s are too big for her and not comfortable so looking at other options.

    Cheers!

  • I have the Bower & Wilkins and I do love them.

However... they are heavy, and you do notice this after 4 or 5 hours (i.e. on a long flight). But this is the nature of the beast, how do you get long battery life if not with large batteries.

The sound quality for music is excellent. The noise cancelling is top notch and configurable. I now take it for granted that if I pop them off my head my music will automatically pause and then resume once I put them back on.

    They're ace.

Does the non-folding matter? Not really. The ear cups swivel to almost flat and fit in bags with similar space to folding ones. I personally think they look better than the Bose QC35s, but that is just preference... I wouldn't say they are much smaller though... both are over ear and designed to fully cup the ear, so they're both large.

  • Has San considered good in-ears, Loins? Very non intrusive, very light, comfy. Block out noise. I also haven’t found a pair of headphones (in the sub 350 market) that sound better than my Shure’s. Just using those as an example though. Appreciate they’re not wireless...

  • Wireless and anc are the two things she’s looking for. She borrowed my Bose for a recent trip and wants something similar but that fit her head better. I’ve ordered those Sony earbuds so she can’t test those too. Her preference so far is the BW but I found them uncomfortable (though sound is brilliant) so wanted to get opinions of those that have them.

  • Bought an iPhone 8. No headphone jack. Fine.

Indulge my laziness: which bluetooth headphones for running?

Was using Monster iSport Victory wired.

  • I’ve been using some £12 betron ones from Amazon as generally they die through sweat and sound is never great unless you spend decent wedge

  • Sennheiser momentum on-ear 2 are another to consider that are slightly smaller and do fold. I'd rate them better than qc35 for sound quality, not quite as good for ANC but still fine for use on train/plane. I wear them for 10 hours straight on flights reasonably often.

  • Cheapo Anker or similar from Amazon, 20 quid and under.

If you want to go spendy the Bose are meant to be the best of the expensive ones but I don't think anyone has really cracked it yet.

  • I have the B&W PX which I love.

However, my partner complains that they are too heavy and the pads are too firm. The sound is amazing though.

  • @Howard I bought the Sony ANC wireless earbuds today for £105 and they get v good reviews but have drawbacks (battery etc)

  • Yeah I found them the same - must just be personal preference. Sound is ace and like the autopause feature. I personally prefer the look of the Bose but seem to be in the minority

  • Nice. For running or general use?

  • Yeah I saw the £20 ones. I wondered how many of the reviews are legit! Maybe they are a place to start though. I really liked the iSport wired i've been using, but it seems their wireless versions aren't robust enough yet.

  • I’ll try them for running - I’m a bit nervous to kill them with sweat etc but I’d been looking at AirPods and these get better reviews.

The Betron V7 wireless ones are the others I was talking about - cheap but pretty good for the £

  • Ah OK.

Guess i've still got some ancient iPods I can use wired...

  • I have a couple of pairs, one Anker ones, one some similar make and they're fine for the price. They're not amazing sound but perfectly serviceable for running.

The alternative is something like https://www.amazon.co.uk/FiiO-BTR1-Bluetooth-Headphone-Amp/dp/B075YD83Y9 and just connect wired headphones to them. I use a similar thing with headphones with a short cable and they work well, finding headphones with a short cable is a hassle though.

  • Are these worth anything?

  • They are open backed, so prob not the best for aeroplanes.

  • Saw an ad for these and was intrigued. https://www.nuraphone.com/
    Anyone tried them?

  • In my opinion Grado's are only good for use at home when nobody else is around. I did like my SR325s though.

  • I enjoyed the submarine radar operator look but never got on with them. Anyone want to buy them?

  • (cross-posting from the bluetooth speakers thread as I thought this one is far more active..)

    Recommendations please!
    Looking for a portable speaker.

    Most important:

    • should have great, natural, big sound. By "big" I don't necessarily mean "boomy" / "subwoofery".
    • will be used indoors mostly, does not need to be that portable, nor waterproof
    • does not need to have a lot of features / wicked smartphone app / link features etc.
    • bluetooth will be useful, thugh this will likely just be used with aux-in by cable

I see the UE boom things and a lot of JBL Clip / Flip/ Charge models around town, and I am often impressed (read: annoyed) at how freaking loud they are - though I think they have exactly this sort-of subwoofery / boorish sound that I don't like.

This will be used in a ~30m² room most of the time, and it should provide a good, honest sound - including bass frequencies.
Needs to be "loud enough", but not screaming loud.

Have looked at a lot of reviews and so far the "DOCKIN D FINE" seems to be a good choice.
    Does anybody use this ?
    Does anyone have other recommendations?

    Thanks!
