In Liverpool? I would fucking hope so...

I was in Liverpool this weekend and everything. Looks very under the radar. But yeah, you'd think it'd be very secretive and very lock and key. Imagine carrying a Louis Vuitton trunk to an event that has £1,000,000's worth of watches in it. Very inconspicuous.

Be interested to know what you can do about scratches in lens, can they be polished out in any cases (depending on materials?) or is replacement front the only solution? Feedback gratefully receivied

Toothpaste is my general starting point for buffing face scratches off.
Does an ok job on light scuffs.Only done this on Seiko 5s I've got off eBay for cheaps, would probably try something better for a good watch

if the crystal is plastic then polywatch is amazing stuff. If it's hardened glass then you'll have to live with the scratch.
-
• #27185
Sadly Polywatch doesn't work on acrylics with external AR or anti scratch coating, like on a Max Bill. Just simple old school acrylics.

What are all these Explorer-faced subs? And more importantly how can I make enough money to buy one?
-
• #27187
Tudor. Shoulda stuck with the original merc hand.
Do any of them still use ETA movements? If so then you'd have thought you could switch it out for an aftermarket one pretty easily.

Think they're just known as 5513 Explorer Dial's. One sold at Christie's in 2016 for £192,000 according to a quick Google, but that was a full set. There a couple on Chrono24 but Price on Request... Towards £100k it would seem.

What's the forum consensus on a budget, vaguely military style watch?
I'm talking circa £50 watch i can wear skating, riding, painting with my 3 year old etc.
At the moment I'm thinking of a Timex Expedition. I've also been looking at the MWC g10 copies, but i'm aware there are mixed opinions on these. I don't really care if MWC ever had a military contract or not, but if they're arses for other reasons i'd rather avoid. -

Timex make some decent watches

@StandardPractice was selling something which might fit the bill:

There'll probably be some Seiko 5 that will fit the bill too.

Look on creation watches under the Seiko 5 section.
SNK809 and SNK805 are the obvious ones.

• #27194
Timex would be my suggestion.
Recently picked up one for £25 on eBay (bnwt)
Currently waiting for a 18mm NATO to arrive to put it on.
Pretty small but no drama if it gets broken MTBing. -

Can anyone think how you could DIY a black bezel similar to this:
from a regular steel(?) seiko bezel? -
• #27196
Do you want to add a tuna shroud?
Or change the bezel insert?
Or change the bezel completely? What watch are you trying to change?
-
• #27197
No.
No.
Yes.
Skx013.This would have been a better photo to post

Modders seem to favour cerakote but I'm not sure it's DIY-able.
I would have thought that most diy options would have problems adhering to the polished stainless.
You might be better off trying to find someone like dagaz or yobokies who produce these for their own customs.

Yobokies is probably your man

There's also a bunch of basic G-Shock that are pretty much built for that application. Check the local TK Maxx and high street jewellers. Between them and military style options, G's are basically military watches.
Is this the alpine equivalent of a Comex Sub?
