• How difficult is it to take out the shifting internals? Especially on the DI2 parts.. You're just a left shifter disassembly away from a 1x group. Ohh and a 3rd party N/W chainring. If you really want this, it's really low effort.

  • The thing that would really bug me would be that the lever would still move on all 4 axis... so SRAM it is!

  • Use the left shifter to activate a dropper post

  • True that! That's what makes Shimano mechanical groupsets a no-go for me..

    But with the new ultegra and dura ace you could get a DI2 front shifter since the mechanical and electronic shifters are nearly identical. Sounds like a plan to me.
