  • My chain ring is on the outside. I use a Halo Fix G rear hub so have about 20mm of adjustment for the chain line (uses single speed cassette type cogs). Wouldn't use anything else (especially brakeless) as it also removes need for threads and lock rings which always caused me problems.

  • Thanks, makes sense using that hub. I'll be fitting mine to the inner position, using an FSA inner ring that has teeth slightly offset to put chain at 41.5mm.

  • @Richard1982 what is/where did you get the little plug you used to blank the axle hole on your Miche Pistard Air cranks?
Looks really good... I want one :-D

  • Got my TC1 built up over the last few weeks, feels like a nicer frame than my old Pre Cursa (stolen) though that might just be down to the gloss vs matte finish

As is probably tradition with the Pistard wheels, I punctured on the test ride - i mustn't have put on the rim tape correctly, faaaack.

  • @Lukas Ah it was just made from a bit of spare aluminium - just wanted to neaten it off a bit. I just slapped some black paint on with a brush but at some point I'll paint it properly when I'm finished painting the frame.

  • Nice! Whats the clearances like compared to the pre cursa at the back?

  • Seems decent, definitely get 28s in there - if it was all the way back in the dropouts, perhaps a 30mm? Will have to give it a go later in the year

  • Cracked my pc at the ht dt weld, about 3 years and 25.000 km on it REST IN PIECES

  • Not too nice, sealed bearings last longer and no maintenance.in bad weather the front brake will wear the rim faster, but not having to regrease hubs is nice

  • Sneak peak of my race bike (pre cursa) being painted! I'm very excited to build this up, only a couple of weeks or so until track league starts.

  • That's crazy-nice paint

  • Looks mad! Looking forward to seeing it built!

  • (Crappy phone pic alert)
Won a fixed crit at York circuit on Saturday on shiny Pursuit Champ. Wicked day.
Applied some textured satin vinyl to the top tube to protect polished alu from being scuffed by legs, mirroring top tube paint on my grey one. Thinking about decals now... Would love to sandblast them but don't want to do anything permanent should I ever sell, so thinking a new DT Dolan logo in a thin dusting of matte silver/sparkle paint to give a blasted effect, that can be wiped off with acetone if desired.
Gopro mount under stem also mounted directly to stem, using rivet nuts and a printed plastic shim.

  • Cool setup. I have a pretty awesome GoPro setup where it fits to the crown of the fork. Annoyingly I don't have a bike with a drilled for at the moment so can't use it :-P

  • Simple and nice that one.

  • Final sneak peak before the grand reveal today or tomorrow!
Paint is all cured now and I'm just building her up. The camera doesn't do the colour justice, it goes from deep purple to electric blue depending on the angle.

  • Really excited to see this, please include a write-up of how you managed it!

  • I've managed to lose one of the track bolts so its not quite ready for action yet. I'd forgotten how difficult it is to fit those Miche cranks into a Dura Ace bottom bracket. Does anyone know what bottom bracket would be easier to get the cranks into for future reference? My phone is a bit rubbish but I'm borrowing a friends camera to get some better pictures later. The coloured paint was painted over a black base. The bars are just 3t Scatto's painted gloss black. Oh the lettering is metallic silver, doesn't really show up well on the photo. Finishing kit is Zipp SL aluminium stuff. It currently has an under saddle mount but I'm going to remove that as I've not found anyway to record speed with those wheels annoyingly - which is what I was hoping to get.

  • Fantastic! A similar colour to what I wanted to paint mine, you've beaten me to it

  • Nice colour, that's a Pre Cursa?
Don't Miche do a bottom bracket? Is the taper different? ISO etc.

  • Who did the paint? That's the exact colour I want for my Affinity Kissena.

  • I'm using a BB-R9100, the chainset uses a 24mm spindle - or I suspect 24.1mm or something :-P I got it in just needed a hammer. When removing these cranks the BB is always destroyed, but I only usually take the cranks out when the BB needs swapping anyway.

  • Ah just someone I know locally. Four other riders in my team like the colour so much they're all getting their track bikes painted to match! Cheaper/easier to do a few bikes at the same time so I'm going to get my road bike painted as well :P

If you really wanted it the same colour you're welcome to bring your bike up and add it to the batch :-P

  • Yep it's a Pre Cursa. I quite like how the PC rides so have been using that, I know it's nothing overly fancy but it's good enough for me. I swapped the fork out on this one for a wing pista - not for any other reason than I liked the sound of my trispoke in it. Almost certainly is less efficient than the original fork which was silent but it makes a pleasing 'whomp whomp whomp' sound as the wheel goes round. The rake is slightly different (can't remember if its more or less) but to be honest I've not noticed a difference in handling or anything like that on the track.

Oh and I'm not a giant :P The angle of the picture makes the seat look far higher than it actually is!
