• Hi all spoke to the guy that sold me the lovely Fanini. He's actually returned it being a purist, to the original brand to match the pantographs on the fork and seat stays...

"I bought this frame from a contact in Italy and it was badged Pogliaghi. It had original yellow decals on original black paintwork. No decal was present re. tubing. I took a guess in a hurry when I decided to sell it, but we now believe that it is Columbus SL. We also know now that Fanini did in fact produce frames for a while for other companies and that included Pogliaghi - why, we don't know! "

    Isn't that a great story?

  • That's a really lovely frame, nice find. I'd echo what everyone has said about keeping it simple, i recently abandoned my few design principles to try and "jazz up" a build and anything that wasn't black just looked shit. Black doesn't mean plain though and i'm sure a flite with yellow lettering and some nicely textured/detailed thin black bar tape would really look nice. Have a look at the wheels on my CAAD, handbuilt, DCR laced to Kinlin's, cost less than a new set Ksyrium's and look/ride so much nicer IMO. If you can do Tiagra really cheap i'd say go for it but i've seen 105 go on here for cheaps and my Ultegra has cost me very little picking up bits here and there in sales.

If your after some cheap bits to get you rolling i've a nice black quill and period looking carbon post that might suit.
