he means the small lateral cracks (most visible just under the reflection of the sun), not the scratches

Few days in Tokyo, night train to Takamatsu, Shikoku (iya valley, Kochi, Shimanto valley) to Kyushu (Aso mount, Miyazaki, Kagoshima). Then Okinawa.
The area around Takamatsu is (what i've heard) supposed to be a little bit dull (only industrial scenery), wanted to go there as well, but chose to go though the valley on the Yoshino river which was beautiful.
I've been cycling twice through Japan and i can highly recommend the Tobishima Kaido. Shimanami Kaido is more known, but you can combine them both to have ~150km of island hopping. This means: cycling around an Island, going up to 100m to the bridge, cycling over the sea (longest bridge is 6.8km) and again and again. For me, that's the most beatiful cycleway in the world. Have a look:
http://www.cyclonoie.com/shimanamikaido-e.phpKyushu is unbelievable, very silent with incredible nature. Going along the coast (east or west) is really nice. If you want some detailed information, drop me a message and i can provide you with GPS-tracks...
Ah yes - Hiroshima and Nagasaki are as well a must.
That's the Shimanami Kaido...

Are you planing on taking your bikes on a train? In Japan traveling by train with a bike is really unconvenient. You’d have to pack your bikes into ginko bags and make sure that they’re no trouble to anyone.
As multiburst said, Yoshino river is quiet nice, there are some nice places for wild camping. We took the ferry from Tokyo to Tokushima. We choose a ferry over a train coz of the bike problem I’ve mentioned.

A normal bicycle bag (where you take out the front wheel/seatpost/pedals) was also ok on the shinkansen. Arriving at rushhour at Osaka St. and getting into the subway therefore wasn't.

Yeah, not the scuff mark. Lower down just below the bright reflection are two small cracks running across the clamp!

Ooh arrived its really nice thinking dark grey rims, yellow cable and tape and saddle plus black tyres and a campag (silver to be age appropriate?) gruppo. Paint jobs a bit of a rough spray, but certainly good enough to still look great, given it's for sunny days status. Columbus MS tubing is insane. I should add this is a long term project, I just couldn't resist the option to get an early example of a Columbus MS frame in staged payments. All the lugs and BB are Cinelli. The fork crown is sprayed silver which is a really nice subtle touch with black Fanini pantos.

@Pawlus @multiburst We didn't know about the ferry from Tokyo and we already have our train tickets! But I think it will be alright, we take the Sunrise Seto (night train) and I have read some reviews about travelling with a bike (in a bag) was ok. I've already take the Renfe Lisboa-Irun where you can't travel with bikes (and ours were not packed at all).
We will take the ferry to Okinawa, so we will try all kind of transports :) We don't plan to stay in Takamatsu, it's only the train stop to go up in the mountains. We really wanted to go to Shimanami Kaido but we have to make choices (only 10 days of biking) and it's not on the way we decided. Another time, maybe !
But thanks for the answers, I will check the strava's map you sent me !

Yellow bar tape yes, but stop there. Go for black/silver to keep it classy.

All black everything but chrome stem to mirror the rear of the frame. Yellow rear gear cable only, black the rest.

Black group
silver seatpost/stem
Black saddle/tape
Yellow rear mech cable if you mustFrame looks like a winner. I take it that you're considering a black group it's going to be a neo/retro jobbie?

black 105!

IMO a SRAM CX1 build on that frame would look fantastic

Thanks so much for the input guys, must admit, veering towards a black gruppo, both suggestions sound great. Agreed yellow tape and maybe just the derailleur cable yellow, just to give it that little flash. Theres a black panto Fanini stem on ebay, but figure since it's as rare as an ummm... fanini it'll stay there until I can scrape the shekels together - £70 is a bit tall for me. I get the chrome stem idea though entirely. I was thinking of getting this rolling on a fairly tight budget, with my artful trawling of the classifieds.
Thinking neo retro tbh, but both 105 or SRAM are great picks. Not sure on wheels, possibly another set of ksyriums? or would that look ghastly with the transfers. Maybe Just simple dark grey / black rims. Not sure might even go tubs... eek. (Sticks yellow saddle back in post and does walk of shame)

Cheers mate. I picked up a crabon flex reinforced yellow Fizik (yep looks like its neo retro! for £15 posted) but please do pm me, unless the taste police on here overrule me! lol.

Cheers very pleased indeed. Yep neo retro, like my lovely green Ron Cooper.

I'll have a nosey on that one... : )

What steerer length do you need?

Nice score! Love the engraved seatstays. Are you sure it‘s MS though? On the photo it looks like the downtube doesn‘t extend all the way to the bottom of the bottom bracket as it does with MS frames. I also never heard of Cinelli MS BBs, I thought there were only the proprietary columbus MS lugs.

Ah no then, its something else, actually looking at it its very similar to my Colnago Tecnos tubing, its very light whatever it is, and should make for a great build. The seatstays are round tapered section too, so it's not MS. I think it must be an early foray into custom drawn tubes. I'm emailing him anyway tonight. I'd love to know more about it. The BB cut outs really nice, mirroring the Fanini F. It's Columbus Gilco, this lovely bike on The Radavist has the same profiles...

Are they really stress fractures? i say this because my 3T stem also has them. Now I'm concerned. I thought they maybe caused when i turn the bike upside down to remove the rear wheel.
Is it very dangerous?
