  • Only the second best 200Perm out there!

This is a bit more fixed friendly than AWE I think! 😉

  • a) doing fuck all

Ha, I don't believe this for one second!
You remind be of a family member who raced professionally. Completely downplayed his efforts, said his form wasn't any good when in reality, was training like a beast! Proper old school. Reckon you fit in this category :)

  • those yellow flowers that make the rapeseed oil all out too.

    Rape.

  • I helped TBW at a bike jumble yesterday and didn't feel like riding afterwards.
Had AWE in my calendar for today but couldn't be arsed organising it so was going to do a Chiltern DIY but woke up stuffy and miserable so I worked on my bike instead of riding it.
I did just get off the turbo though having finally got enough motivation to turn the pedals
    Total weekend ride time: 1h15m

I'm almost 40 points down on CTL compared to last year. :S

Lucky I don't have any big events this year... oh...

  • These Wessex route sheets are a work of art really.

  • Shawn Shaw is Gesamtkunstwerk!

  • On that note I just opened the Porkers one. 6AAA? What have I done?

  • Count yourself lucky, I've still not got a freewheel....

  • Or a beergut.

I reckon it's less of a disadvantage in Wessex as you can't ride 99% of the descents anyway unlike say the Alps. Martin from Willesden was riding fixed when I did the 300km a few years ago. He probably beat me in. Bloody fixers.

  • I had a tooth taken out last week to help me crank up the last few climbs.

I also descend like Romain Bardet with a blindfold, so I probably won't lose any time.

What worries me the most, is this will be my first 400

  • What worries me is that it will be my second 400... in the space of 24hrs.

  • Just booked a hotel in Chepstow. Still need to decide on transport - train or car. There's no parking at the hotel but taking the car means I could sleep in it between rides and not worry so much about making all the connections between Chepstow and Poole. But the drive back to London after the double will no doubt be fucked.

Thinking about doing that AWE ride as a tester for the loaded Tripster this Sunday though the 25mi is quite late so by the time I get home I'll likely not feel like doing much Sun morning if past races are anything to go by.

  • I've pulled out of LWL but apparently it's not an option for BCM - is there any way for someone else to benefit from my place without committing audax fraud?

  • Nah Richie is pretty strict on it.

  • If someone who just wants to ride pretends to be umop3pisdn though?

  • But then i'd get audax points unfairly = audax fraud, i'm assuming.

  • They could DNF and not validate your brevet. But they could just do the ride as a DIY if that was an issue. I guess maybe someone wants to ride with a friend might do it so they're somewhat legit and can use the controls.

Pretty sure I rode half of it with a guy who wasn't entered at all last time.

  • I booked 0945 from Clapham (well strictly 0847 from feltham then change at Clapham) last week - only £25

As yet there is nothing confirmed to come home - i'm hoping the ever tolerant wife wants a day trip by the seaside!

I'm riding Valley of the Rocks in Devon on Saturday - 4AAA over 200 - surely if I can do this, Porkers will be half manageable?

  • Rough estimate of £140 in train fares. I despair at this country sometimes. Now I will definitely be driving.

  • Really enjoyed Oasts & Coasts last weekend so looking to do another 300. Green & Yellow Fields any good? Have never really done a proper night ride before so sounds interesting.

  • Many organisers bank on a certain number of people DNS-ing.

If you could transfer places they'd have to offer fewer in the first place. Plus people would rush to fill up rides very early on knowing they could always get their money back by transferring places.

  • Yeah, so instead of a chilled bit of train lounging to/from it'll be stressfest.
I have a bigger car than I used to so I might use it to get some sleep in. Gonna pack a sleep pad and sleeping bag just in case.

Anyone know a good parking spot near the start in Poole?

  • There is parking at Poole ferry port £ obvs.
