WTB Ninelines if its dry. I have spare Nobby Nic in 2.35" if you want

fair point , probably should have read the question more closely. In that case Maxxis Ardents in 2.4 are pretty sweet and faster than they look as they have a raised central ridge.

2.5" super tacky Minion DHF and HTFU.

Yeabut what to use as a front?

Thanks, probably going to ignore everyone and go for a Vittoria Barzo/Peyote combo.

Conti XKings are fast and not great but still work in mud. Super fast on gravel. ProTection version last forever (3000 miles on the divide at least)

+1 for @turnpedal suggestion of Xking or 2.2 Raceking is screaming quick but slightly smaller volume

2.4s are pretty big

Chaps, any recommendation for an August Bank Holiday mountain bike trip in UK?
We did North Wales last year, camped (I have a GREAT wild camping location if anyone needs it) and rode Coed Y Brenin (slightly dull), Revolution (slightly terrifying) and Antur Stiniog (about right).
Keen for wild camping, light bikepacking, trails on the Enduro to DH end of the spectrum with a bit of natural stuff based on last year's trip...
Thinking Lake District, Peak District or Skye at the moment.

Sleeper train to Aviemore
3 days riding Cairngorms Loop or whatever else, bothies and singletrack everywhere
Sleeper train home -
• #11314
That sounds like a plan, I've been there before actually but not for riding. I'll certainly have a look at some routes :)
-
• #11316
also if you book this early sleeper trains are a LOT cheaper

This sounds mega! Some slightly lairy/ techy bits too? I'll be riding a 180mm YT Capra, lol.

Is #enduropacking a thing now?
-
• #11319
yeah man, it's not exactly a purpose built bikeparks, but some of the descents are pretty wild, 1000m at 10% gradient with lots to play on. go higher up and you'll have snow and ice, which is fun too!
that bike will probably still be a little overkill, 150mm full sus would be the best I think if you wanted to get really wild. I did it on a old cotic solaris 120mm HT.
bothies mean you don't need to take nearly as much camping kit too (sleeping bag only).

Looking forward to your write up. I'm desperate to go back and try the full Macdui. Plan would be to head up to Hutchinson Hut. Spend the night, leave the kit there and do an out and back to the top and down again. Looks gnarly, particularly as I only have a 120mm hardtail too.

• #11321
thanks. couldn't go to hutchinson due to snowmelt making the avon unfordable, stayed in the emergency avon ford bothy for a bit which was cosy! maybe I'll do macdui some time too.

Anyone riding a Marin Pine Mountain? I'm building one for my dad with the Marin rigid fork and was looking for wheel tyre size recommendations.

https://singletrackworld.com/2018/04/exclusive-new-1x12-drivetrain-from-sunrace/
Nice to see someone else in the game.
Same pull ratios so could be a cheap upgrade:
Another very interesting point about the shifter is that SunRace claim it is compatible with Shimano 11-speed mountain bike rear derailleurs. The theory being that if you already own a Shimano 1×11 drivetrain, you could potentially purchase the SunRace shifter, the 11-50t cassette and a 12-speed chain, and you’ve got yourself an extra gear without having to upgrade the entire drivetrain to 12-speed.

my sunrace 11-42 10spd cassette is the best 25 quid i ever spent
Thunder Burts tubeless (As they are a bit delicate) or WTB Nano would be my preference.
