Why? What's different about Rotors?
-
• #3103
Kinda .. but if the new gen long arm Shimano FD doesn't interfere then etap wont

The front derailleur fouled the cranks when I tried to run them with eTap. There’s a doc somewhere on the SRAM website that details the clearances you need.

Yep, rear is working perfectly. Tried pairing it again. Changed batteries. Same thing. Dunno what else to do. I see no reboot button :(

I went for the new bike option.

Fortunately or unfortunately I think my framebag will fit either the Tripster or the Tarmac so either is looking like a possible race bike option. But a new bike would be nice.

You've done everything I'd think to do. What's odd is that the FD is the brain of the system and sends commands on to the RD, so if there was am issue with the FD I'd expect it to affect both.
You able to warranty it?
** last thought. Have you tried swapping the batteries over?

Hi all
I've finally joined the Di2 club (ultegra 8000) and - after running out of juice on the first ride because I assumed the battery came charged - I'm really liking it so far. So quick and accurate.
I was researching how I could connect my phone to the Di2 box and it seems that I need to buy a wireless unit to achieve this - Something like this
Have any of you added one of these? How easy are they to install? Where do you install them internally? Do they work with Ultegra 8000 (doesn't specifically mention Ultegra in the product page)?
I also heard about "hidden buttons" on the tops of DA and latest generation Ultegra levers which can be used / connected to your Garmin to control it in some way. But this is only accessible once you have the wireless unit. Anyone have any experience with this?
Don't want to sound like a total n00b but there's not a great deal of info online; and what there is has a significant amount of assumed knowledge.

The battery should come with more than 1 ride's charge. Did you buy it new?
how I could connect my phone to the Di2 box
What for?
Hooking up to a Garmin makes more sense.

It came with the bike / new out of the box. I guess they tested it fairly rigorously in the factory? It's fine now so just came empty.
I'm more interested in the Garmin connection to show battery & gear but also interested in ability to update firmware or customise shifters as I change my cassette every now and then.

Presume you just pair your Garmin with D-Fly.
I've never updated Di2 firmware on either of my race bikes. If it ain't broke..

Thanks but I've tried swapping the batteries and it's the same. It'll soon be on its way back to Germany. Hopefully BD will replace it. Trying out Etap 1x in the meantime...

Is the FD really the brains? One of the benefits is that if the RD battery runs out of power you can simply swap the batteries over and it allows you to still shift on the RD, presumably whilst the FD is dead.

Wouldn't that mean you can't use etap as 1x11? I thought people were already doing that? Maybe it was just mechanical SRAM i saw.

You need that little box for it to communicate with the app and with your Garmin. The secret buttons are great, I use them to change Garmin screens and to turn on the backlight, really useful on night time descents when you don’t know if there is a turn coming up.
You will need an additional cable to connect the little box as it fits in line.

"the rear mech however is the brains of the system"

I can report that etap works just fine without the front mech.

Hmm, where did this FD=brains thing come from then?
Shit, I still don't know what to do. I'm probably just gonna use the di2 bike I already have. It's probably giving away 1-2kg to the Cannondale but that's nothing when you put me on it and the luggage and calculate system weight. I also can't be arsed upgrading the S-Works for a single race.

My DI2 button hack made the GCN show. Great having aerobar shifting. Follow link or go to 27:30 below.

Can't listen just yet but what is it? Cheaper DIY version of the Shimano pods?

Yes. They don't say much anyway.
Gonna depend on the frame though, innit.
