    Without a dropper (or lowering your saddle before you "send" a "feature") the danger is that you end up going over the bars like this (edit: it was supposed to link to 49s)
    though as the saddle rams you up the arse and sends you flying over the front. You can see the saddle shunt that guy in the slow-mo. My friend ended up in hospital with two broken arms and a couple of hours missing from his memory after forgetting to lower his saddle on a mountain bike. The problem is exaggerated on "road" frames due to the geometry and particularly the saddle-to-bar drop

    Obviously what you were doing looks plenty safe (though still plenty gnarmac) but I wouldn't ride any proper MTB trails on any gravel bike without dropping the saddle personally
