Those forks look pretty cool. Also living that no braks no foot retention lyf. Otherwise I don't see anything of note.

On further inspection: Is he wearing 2 belts? Does he have pants and then some pants-chaps. Sorry I mean trousers.

Wasn't sure where to put this, trailer for the documentary 'TRAGICZNI' about the Polish fixed gear scene:

"It's a bike that doesn't allow you to stop pedalling. I said to
myself that's fucking stupid. I rode it to school for a week and was in love after 2 days." -

Watching that was like going back in time 10 years.
I'd do it all again in a heartbeat.
-
• #20382
I dunno man - aside from the "flow of the bike" tripe this is pretty nice. Objectively a bunch of hipsters though I guess.

All those lonely evenings walking up and down the aisles of IKEA ... memories ... :)

It just never gets old and tired, that joke does it? Never.
I'm off to the Scandinavian warehouse of dreams today as it happens. Do you need anything picking up Oliver?

No thanks, I went on Thursday.

Evening?

Oh yeah, since you are here: Ithink I once heard you say that in temperatures below (I think) 17c, one should cover one's knees.
Do you have a source for this? I was discussing it yesterday morning, early, on the 26.2 mile, closed road, secret ride.
-
• #20390
Of course, otherwise what's the point?
-
• #20391
I don't think I ever gave a temperature--that might be the physicist in you that added it. :)
It's just standard roadie advice (that I ignored for years, because I didn't have a clue). I got it from Bob Davis (of Road Danger Reduction Forum fame) initially.
Only ride with bare knees on very warm summer days.

• #20392
I was always told it was below 16 degrees C.

Thanks.

To cover your knees? Why?
-
• #20395
Just a guess but long term typical cycling injury will be bad knees. Better off riding with them covered to stave off all manner of ailments for a while longer, arthritis speeds up with the cold I think.
-
• #20396
Warm knees work better, ache less and develop fewer injuries.
Anecdotally.
I CBA and don't have access to search for a proper research paper.
Anyone?
-
• #20397
Used to be called 'Easter knees'; uncovering them too early in the year and suffering as a result. I think it was David Duffield who used to mention it. That may not help the case.
-
• #20398
I've heard that footballers from warmer countries usually have longer careers due to fewer cold related injuries.
-

I wore knee coverings once this winter. Bunch of melts the lot of you.

I found this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knee_pain#Cold-induced but mostly it seems to suggest that cold just aggravates pre-existing conditions.
I'm guessing that some people who experience knee pain have just not ridden their bikes over winter. Then they get back on in spring, ride 100 miles, experience knee pain and attribute it to the cold, rather than to overtraining/stress/fatigue/whatnot
either way, it ends in tears
