I don't think I ever gave a temperature--that might be the physicist in you that added it. :)
It's just standard roadie advice (that I ignored for years, because I didn't have a clue). I got it from Bob Davis (of Road Danger Reduction Forum fame) initially.
Only ride with bare knees on very warm summer days.

Oh yeah, since you are here: Ithink I once heard you say that in temperatures below (I think) 17c, one should cover one's knees.
Do you have a source for this? I was discussing it yesterday morning, early, on the 26.2 mile, closed road, secret ride.
