Perhaps dog piss does confer a certain something to the bitters of the dandelion leaf?

I recenty saw some coffee in a local Waitrose, with an emphasis on Oran Utangs,
and, thought for one dreadful moment, someone was feeding coffee beans to caged OUs.
Turned out I gave a (pitiful) donation to an Oran Utang protection scheme. -

Hard to tell from the angle, but it might be a parasol mushroom. They are edible.

Seem to remember it had a 'smooth, stripe-free stipe',
indicating Shaggy Parasol. Will return tomorrow, (for more damsons, from the neglected hedgerow),
and see if it has persisted/more have come up. -

This is my haul from the three trees at the end of the road, still plenty left on the tree and spotted a load of chestnuts while walking the dog earlier but we were trying to find a lost ball so will have to go back tomorrow!
There are a load of mushrooms on the cricket pitch, need to work out if they are edible!

This might be a bit nuts or in this case crab apples but outside my Turkish barbers in Tottenham Lane Norf London is a Traffic Island and on the traffic island is a tree and on that tree there is a branch and on that branch there are some twigs and on those twigs there were loads of crab apples but they're now all over the ground hidden underneath leaves and twigs so I did this....crab apple jelly with just a hint of Nox....I hope not

Felt a bit weird, scrabbling around in lycra on a traffic island with a scraggy Tesco bag! Hope it's worth it! Cheers

It's wild garlic time. Although I haven't found any yet there's plenty of nettles and garlic mustard on the Surrey canal path.

^ Yep.
-
• #421
smelled quite a lot of wild garlic along the lee valley last week
-

Just the bulbs are edible? Or the leaves as well? Quite a lot in the lane near me, might go and have a forage this week.
-
• #423
Believe the etiquette is to leave the bulbs alone, (wild plants and all that),
and take just the one leaf from any plant.

Ah, makes sense. Will pinch out a few leaves first to try :)

The leaves smell very garlicky. A couple, chopped into tiny pieces, transform a green leaf salad.
If browning/sweating onions, again a couple finely chopped, added towards the end give the required garlic hit.
Maybe that's the delicacy? Much like cat poo coffee beans, or whatever it is.
Hopefully they are just feeding their guinea pigs (which may or may not then be eaten :/ )
