  • I know this is border line taking the piss, but could you add a link to the map?

  • Wait, there's a map?

Looks like some of the most recent additions were the Skelly memorial 3 months ago, Gillet Square Toilet and Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha - although this one is quite old - about a year.

  • The map is brilliant.

  • I was bored at work last night, and started compiling a list, mainly to see how laborious it would be.

    It's quite laborious.

Obviously a complete list would have data advantages. Sortable by tagger, postcode, etc. Easy to edit, yada yada.

Big old task to take on though.

Conscious also that time spent talking about maps and lists is time not spent actually doing tagz.

  • Current tag for the new page:

What was once a fine old row of shops, now all converted to residential use. The one in the foreground was an ironmongers, beyond it you can see a haberdashers and a confectioners. To its left, out of shot, was a general store whose name still shows above the entrance.

This square is at the centre of one of London's oldest housing estates. To stretch out the columns theme, one of the very first residents on the square was the then editor of the Times newspaper.

RE map - I'll do some updates when I have some procrastination time.

  • Old: Ye olde Ironmongers, 66 Walcot Square, at the centre of the Walcot Estate, built 1837-39. Thomas Barnes, editor of the Times, lived at number 77 from 1840-41.

  • Yaaassss to more Columns!

  • I think that's the quickest I've ever figured one out, no way I'm going all the way over there to get it though

  • I'm curious, how did you get it?

  • Probably a question he should only answer after it's been taken. :)

A little out of range for me today.

  • Ahh, damn. I was looking at Brompton Square. Where John Stoddart, editor of the times from 1812-16 lived and died.

I suppose @Oliver Schick 's comments about @itsbruce 's bike were an intentional red herring... Bastard.

  • Oops, no, not an intentional red herring. It was just meant to be a little joke about Bruce not riding the Abici Velocino. Sorry. :)

  • Back when I was cool and went around scouting for tags, I remember passing this and thinking it would be a good one. Seemed pretty random.

  • Map is slightly more up to date now

  • The confectioners is a little more photogenic but "The old sweet shop" at number 60 would have been pathetically easy to find in Google search or Maps.

  • I tagged those, but can't remember if I updated map. So thanks whoever did (if I forgot to, which I can't remember either way) 🤦‍♂️

  • Ah balls, its gone south of the river again.

  • Ride your bike over a bridge. It's pathetically easy.

I once rode to bloody Barnet to get a tag. It doesn't get more North than that*.

*Obviously it does. In B4 Schick.

  • I updated / will update the map

  • I meant my one. I found yours by searching "66 square london" and filtering out the most common results. Dirty.

  • Sorry, you lost me at ride your bike let alone these bridges you speak of.

  • Old: Clapham Orangery
Feels really out of place with all of the flats around it.

  • That looks like the reflection of GenericJon in the window. Sadly not explicit enough to invoke Guideline 5. :)
