• I was in Paris last month at a workshop and discovered that one of my colleagues is an ex-Garmin engineer. He is incredibly talented, so it was interesting to hear his views on Garmin’s software capabilities, albeit a brief overview. I’ll see him again next month, gonna buy him a beer and get the full story.

  • The first part (talented developer) fits with my guess (from a long time Garmin user and a long time (non-Garmin) software developer) with the way they work.

    I can imagine them having lots of ideas but management trying to keep things moving way too fast and focusing on shiny new features (Strava Segments! Music!) rather than keeping an eye on stability or usability (who needs apps that can sync with watches!)
