Ha! Might hamper the form for tcr.
-
• #17479
Nah, it's good for toughening the cheeks. Rapha guys have form for doing that double too :)

Yeah George is mad!

I was tempted to throw an entry into the 24hr just to see how much I can hurt myself in one year but I've still got a mortgage to pay and once again I'm taking the piss with time off.

It’s on my list. But I think it’s an event that deserves the uppermost respect and total dedication for an entire year to really do right.
-
• #17483
It's one you can wait for too, endurance improves with age.
-
• #17484
I've done that already. I just want to rock up with my stereo and give it a go hey-oh.
-
• #17485
Going by current events I’ve got 20 years before I hit my best.
-
• #17486
I peaked at 17.

Stone? What you at now?

The only Stone I'm aware of...

First TT for 2 years tonight, 10 at Hillingdon.
Am actually pretty nervous: have I got the bike set up ok with new pedals? Will my power be pathetic? Will my back hold out in TT position after so long not using it?
I'll find out in a few hours time! -

It can't go any worse than my glorious return to the world of CTT.
-
• #17491
At least you had the sense to do yours 150 miles away where no-one knew you, I'm preparing for humiliation in front of half my club and about 60 west London cyclists. And at Hillingdon I can't even take the wrong turn off a roundabout and say I got lost!

Fake a puncture, if needs must. All been there.
-
• #17493
Well I survived it without needing to resort to that.
Power was ridiculously low, much lower than I used to do in 100s 3 or 4 years ago. But it was a good night so time wasnt actually that bad. And my neck held out. Skin suit doesn't fit any more though: groin chafing! -
• #17494
lol wtf

There were people in Wales I'd raced with before. Okay, not half my club though :)
You do realise I've done an extra lap in at least two of those Hillingdon '10's? You don't need to take a wrong turn to look like an idiot :)

I've done that.
Now I have my Garmin and check the distance.
One time I forgot I had left it on km instead of miles and, after about four laps I checked it and thought I was going really fast and had got into the zone where I'd done a couple of laps without realising it... -

After sprinting for the wrong finish in the Hounslow 100 one year I generally swap my Garmin to Imperial for the distance TTs these days to avoid
confusionmaths. -
• #17499
I remember that, the gezzers with the picnic table a few hundred yards short!
I always mean to swap mine but it is another thing to forget. Like zero-offsetting my power meter, which I didn't do last night, so power data is garbage. -

I've got into the pre-race routine reasonably well. The second 25 had no issues other than completely fucking up the course. I'm always changing stuff though so every race has potential for one of my changes to fail. The CTT stuff is not a massive goal for me this year just a nice to have so I'll give it a go and if I don't get it, maybe I'll try again at the end of the year. I'm around the same power as when I PBd two years ago, which is lower than where I was at maybe 4 years ago but given that I've spent feck all time on my TT bike compared to when I was training for 24hrs I can't be too unhappy with that.
How'd your 10(and a bit) actually go anyway? Time?
Yeah did see E2 50, but want to go shorter, like a 25. Shame E2/25 isn't one weekend earlier.
I suck at 10's, too short. Plus won't have been training like that. So rules out 10s. Could do the farnham 25, but not the best course. So kind of left wales.
Will have been at altitude for 1 month and fancied seeing where I'm at. If it's anything like last year it'll be good.
